PlayStation Announces the PlayStation Classic

PlayStation is getting on board the nostalgia train and taking a page from Nintendo’s playbook.

After the phenomenal success of the NES and SNES Mini’s there was speculation that Sony would follow suit with a Mini PSX. Today, it has announced that it’s doing just that.

The PlayStation Classic will launch with 20 original games and will cost $149.99 AUD. The PlayStation Classic will be launching in Japan, North America, Europe, Australia and New Zealand.

In addition to the console, which is only 45% the size of the original, Sony has confirmed it will include an HDMI cable, USB cable and two PlayStation Classic controllers. Like the NES and SNES Minis, the PlayStation Classic doesn’t include an AC adaptor, but you can just use any USB AC Adaptor for the power supply.

While the full list of games included hasn’t been announced, Sony has revealed that the this mini PSX will include;

  • Final Fantasy VII
  • Jumping Flash!
  • R4 Ridge Racer Type 4
  • Tekken 3
  • Wild Arms

If I was a betting man, I’d say that there’s a good chance we’ll see MediEvilCroc and Pandemonium included as well. Some of the included games will allow for multiplayer.

The PlayStation Classic launches on December 3, 2018, for $149.99 AUD.
