Scalebound listing discovered on Microsoft Store

In a weird discovery today, a listing for Scalebound Xbox One has been found on the Microsoft Store. Scalebound was the action-adventure title from Platinum Games that was cancelled by Microsoft in January 2017.

The Scalebound listing on the Microsoft Store doesn’t allow a purchase, but it does allow reviews with some as recent as April this year.

Despite the listing being discovered, it’s unlikely that Scalebound is being revived, but that hasn’t stopped speculation running rampant.

Scalebound Xbox One

Scalebound’s description on the store reads;

The next great adventure from critically-acclaimed developer PlatinumGames and renowned Game Director Hideki Kamiya, you will experience the journey of a young loner, Drew, who is pulled into the strange, beautiful and dangerous world of Draconis.

There Drew is bonded to a fearsome and noble dragon, Thuban, the last of his kind. These two, lone-wolf heroes thrown together by fate must learn to fight as one to defeat the powerful enemies that threaten Draconis, Earth and a vast universe of parallel worlds.

In Scalebound, players would take control of Drew, the main character. With the help of Thuban, Drew would be able to take down large enemies, fly through the air and even transform into a half-dragon hybrid.

Announced in 2014, Scalebound was a hotly anticipated Xbox One exclusive. Gameplay was shown at Gamescom 2015 where it was announced that four-player multiplayer would be included.

Originally set for release in 2016 it was pushed into 2017 and then cancelled.

Is it legit?

Despite Scalebound‘s listing appearing on the Microsoft Store, I wouldn’t get your hopes up. A tweet from Aaron Greenberg states that the listing is ‘old’ and ‘hidden.’

I know the conspiracy theorists amongst you might be willing to write this off as misdirection, but it’s more likely that he’s being honest. So, as much as we all might want Scalebound to make a triumphant comeback, it’s not happening right now.

Let’s all take a moment to remember Scalebound and what could have been.
