Earlier this year, it was rumoured that the next game in the Assassin’s Creed franchise would be titled Assassin’s Creed Dynasty. The rumour came from an animator working at Technicolor in Bangalore and the subtitle was thought to refer to the game being set in China.
However, today a new leak/rumour is suggesting that Assassin’s Creed Dynasty will be set in Greece. The leak comes from (of all places) 4Chan and includes an alleged screenshot and details on what is to be included in Assassin’s Creed Dynasty.
Setting the next Assassin’s Creed title in Greece makes sense as a follow-on from Origins and the details provided do sound legitimate and exciting.
Assassin’s Creed Dynasty
The above screenshot looks incredibly rough and could quite easily be fake, but if we accept that it could be legit, then the information provided could be too. The screenshot is claimed to be an early image of Athens.
The anonymous poster on 4Chan wrote that Assassin’s Creed Dynasty will be set in Greece and players will be able to explore an area about the same size as Origins. Areas included in Dynasty are Achaea, Macedonia, Thrace, and the Aegean Sea.
There would also be several cities which include Sparta, Athens, Corinth, Delphi, Thessalonica and Philippi. Water will also play a large role in Dynasty with approximately 30% of the map being sailable. Naval warfare will also make a return and will have a greater focus.
The leaker also suggests that players will be able to select a male or female protagonist who is Spartan. Depending on which character a player chooses there will apparently be big differences in story, assassination targets, skills, armour and weapons. However, the main decisions in the game and the overall narrative won’t be different, only the journey getting there.

As for the Templars, the leak claims they’ll be the families who control the cities in Greece and the three provinces. The Templar families act as patrons to the Romans and spread Roman propaganda to the Greeks.
The stars of Assassin’s Creed Origins, Bayek and Aya, will not appear in Dynasty according to the rumour but will have a presence in the narrative. It’s also claimed that social stealth will make a return and allow players to blend into the crowd, use groups of people for cover and once again disappear into groups of priests.
It’s claimed that Assassin’s Creed Dynasty will launch in Q1 2019, similar to Far Cry 5.
Everything in the leak and posted on 4Chan is unverified and should be taken with a grain of salt, however, it does make sense for the franchise. Setting the next game in Ancient Greece is a natural follow-up to Egypt and would easily slot in with the established lore in Italy and the Middle East.
Until anything official is announced we won’t know for sure, but I’m hoping this is real. It looks very promising and sounds like a lot of fun.
