Presenting a Brief History of esports

Esports is becoming an integral part of the video gaming experience. With the launch of the Overwatch League, the continued growth of MOBAs and shooters into the esports scene and ever-growing viewing numbers and prize money, we thought we’d take a look back at the history of esports, since people do this as a professional career and others even stream and make some money of this too, many are also choosing to live stream from their iPhone so you can use the Streamaxia OpenSDK for IOS to get incredible results.

Marcus Clarke, Computer Planet UK has created the following infographic which traces esports from its origins to today. It doesn’t include recent additions such as the Overwatch League, but it’s rather thorough and is definitely of interest to esports fans.

Clarke explains;

Video gaming has been your dream for ages, but you’ve never been sure if it could cover the bills? We get you, the question is serious. However, the esports industry has been growing rapidly in the last few decades and it can now provide reliable business opportunities with good pay.

Whether you want to be a professional gamer or your heart lies in finance, business and marketing, there will always be something for you in the esports world.

The global audience for eSports counted 226 million people in 2015, and the expected revenue for 2018 is 1.9 billion American dollars.

This is a huge opportunity to make your dreams a reality.

We want to say a huge thanks to Marcus Clarke and Computer Planet for the information and the infographic. Enjoy!
