Rainbow Six Siege X launching in June, beta on now through 19 March

Ubisoft has today revealed that Rainbow Six Siege X, the free update for Rainbow Six Siege, will be released on 11 June on Ubisoft+, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and on PC. The update to Siege brings a brand new game mode (Dual Front), a graphical upgrade and more.

Ubisoft has revealed that in addition to gameplay and visual updates, Rainbow Six Siege X will introduce R6 ShieldGuard, a new, “multifaceted approach to anti-cheat.”

Finally, players can take part in an open beta from today through 19 March. To gain access, players won’t need to own a copy of Rainbow Six Siege, but will need to get a Twitch Drop to play. The beta includes Dual Front and a roster of 35 Operators.

The main draw for Rainbow Six Siege X is the new Dual Front mode, which is a permanent “and evolving 6v6 mode”, per Ubisoft. In Dual Front, players need to capture three enemy “sectors” while defending their own on a brand-new map called District. District has been designed exclusively for Dual Front and players will have access to a curated roster of 35 operators which mixes “both Attackers and Defenders for the first time in Siege to combine their unique abilities, weapons and gadgets in ways never seen before.”

During a Dual Front match, players can “venture into the Neutral Sector to take on time-limited assignments and earn rewards that will help their squad gain an edge over their opponents”. Taking part in the Neutral Sector tasks can greatly affect a match, but are a risk/reward proposition as venturing into the Neutral Sector leaves your “key positions” open to attack.

Players are able to select a new Operator at respawn too, offering up new strategic options mid-match. Ubisoft has said Dual Front will be regularly updated “with the selection of curated operators rotating twice a season and Neutral Sector assignments changing each season.”

With Siege X’s visual upgrades, Ubisoft promises “new lighting, shadows and up to 4K textures. Clubhouse, Chalet, Border, Bank and Kafe will be enhanced at launch, with three additional modernised maps being added each season.” In addition to the visual upgrade, new gameplay features will be introduced, including “destructible ingredients, including fire extinguishers, gas pipes and metal detectors.”

Rappelling will be improved too, allowing players to “run horizontally and jump around building corners.” The game’s audio will also experience an overhaul “including a rework of audio propagation and reverberation, enabling players to gather critical intel through audio cues to better pinpoint the location of enemy players on the map.”

To give Rainbow Six Siege X a try ahead of launch, players will need to watch partnered creator streams and earn a Twitch Drop. The beta is open until 19 March and is available on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC via Ubisoft Connect. For more information, head here.

Rainbow Six Siege X launches for free on 11 June 2025.
