The Gigabyte Aorus FO32U2P is as close to the perfect gaming/ productivity monitor as you can get and it joins other great monitors like the MSI MPG 321URX and Asus ROG Swift OLED PG32UCDM. It takes direct inspiration from the widely praised Gigabyte M32U 4K monitor, my own current monitor, a favorite among gamers and professionals alike.
The FO32U2P vastly improves on M32U with an absolutely stunning 32-inch 4K QD-OLED, 240Hz refresh rate, a future proof DisplayPort 2.1 and fantastic color accuracy. However, at wallet melting $2,199 in Australia— much more than double the price of the M32U — is this future proofed OLED able to justify it’s premium price tag?
Design and Build
In terms of design, Gigabyte really gave the FO32U2P a very sleek, modern and premium look. In fact, I wouldn’t say it looks like a gaming monitor and more like a Pro creator monitor. There’s some light RGB on the back heatsink but otherwise, its just an all black, clean finish with a metal stand that looks really suave.
The stand is sturdy and adjustable, letting you move the screen up, down, tilt, or swivel to your liking — including full 90-degree rotation to portrait mode. However, the forked foot design of the stand does take up a lot of room, so you might need to re-organize your setup. If you’re short on desk space, you can also mount it using the VESA compatibility.
For connections, the FO32U2P has everything you could need. There are two HDMI 2.1 ports, a future proof DisplayPort 2.1, a regular DP1.4, a USB-C port that delivers 65W of power, and several USB-A ports. It also has a KVM switch, which is super useful for people like me who work on multiple computers in at the same desk. It works smoothly with quick switching when you change video inputs.
The FO32U2P does have built-in speakers, but they’re not the best. They’re fine for casual use, like watching YouTube videos, but they lack the depth and clarity you’d want for gaming or movies. Thank fully, there is also a 3.5mm audio output and microphone jack which I think most people would prefer for a better audio experience because the FO32U2P has a built-in ESS Saber HiFi DAC.
Display Performance
The FO32U2P’s 4K OLED panel is where it really shines. With a resolution of 3840 x 2160, everything looks pin sharp and detailed. It’s using Samsung’s 3rd Gen QD-OLED panel which means its one of the brightest, most vibrant gaming OLED’s on the market. This also means you won’t suffer from pesky text fringing, something OLED’s have struggled with in the past.
The panel supports 10-bit color with 1.5m:1 contrast ration and 99% DCI-P3 color gamuts, so colors are bright and accurate. This makes it great for photo editing, video work, and anything else where color matters. The monitor adds HDR TrueBlack 400 support which in tandem with the OLED’s rich blacks makes content and games absolutely stunning. Windows still doesn’t do the best job of HDR in games and I found running SDR a more enjoyable experience but with PlayStation 5, HDR looks great.
For gaming, the FO32U2P has a 240Hz refresh rate and 0.03ms response time ensures buttery smooth motion. Of course you also get FreeSync and G-Sync compatibility which means you are all good regardless of GPU preference. It’s unlikely that you will be running games at max resolutions and 240fps to make the most of this but, if you can, you will be very pleased with performance. PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X owners will enjoy 4K 120Hz on here as well.
At this point, I can confidently say that there’s nothing to fear about OLED burn-in in 2025. If you use your monitor like a normal person and respect the built-in care features, you should never see burn-in. The FO32U2P comes with all the standard OLED care functions like pixel refresh, pixel shifting, brightness limiting and other AI controlled features to prevent burn-in. Gigabyte also gives a good 3-year warranty so that should keep everyone’s mind at ease.
Gaming Experience
If you’re into gaming, this monitor is a dream. The 144Hz refresh rate and 1ms response time mean fast-paced games look and feel smooth. Whether you’re racing in Forza Horizon 5 or fighting in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, the action is fluid and responsive and it looks incredible. Colors are incredibly vibrant and the dark areas in games get truly dark that you often have to use the monitors Black Equilizer to help see better in the shadows.
I thoroughly enjoyed playing darker games like Diablo IV and Hellblade 2: Senuas Saga. The dark areas were pitch black and the contrast made flickering torchlights and particle effects really stand out and pop. The motion clarity is also exceptional as this monitor is VESA ClearMR13000 certified. Even connecting my less powered Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5, the FO32U2P made games look and feel amazing.
This level of performance is a standout feature, but the FO32U2P takes things further with DisplayPort 2.1. DP2.1 allows for significantly higher bandwidth than DP1.4, supporting up to 4K at even faster refresh rates or 8K resolutions with HDR. While this opens the door to future-proofing your setup, I wasn’t able to test DP2.1 as I didn’t have a compatible GPU. That would require Nvidia’s newest RTX 50-series cards which were only recently announced. Even so, its inclusion highlights Gigabyte’s push for cutting-edge connectivity, making the FO32U2P a versatile option for gamers looking ahead.
On top of all the usual gamer features like Black Equaliser, cross hairs, frame counters, there’s also a Tactical switch which, at a press of the button, transforms the monitors view port into a 24-inch. This is preferred for gamers who like to play fast pace competitive shooters and find the 32-inch size too big and distracting. Not something I found useful as I love single player, blockbuster games in glorious 4K but could be handy for you.
Final Thoughts
The Gigabyte Aorus FO32U2P is a fantastic monitor that delivers incredible visuals, smooth performance, and helpful features like HDMI 2.1 and a KVM switch. It’s perfect for gamers who want the best experience and professionals who need accurate colors for creative work.
While the FO32U2P does a lot right, it’s $2,199 which is really expensive, and not everyone will find it worth the price. At the time of writing this, similar monitors from MSI, Samsung and LG can all be had for up to $400 less than the FO32U2P. Additionally, most people will not be able to make use of DisplayPort 2.1 for at least another year when it becomes more mainstream.
But, if you can find it on big discount, the FO32U2P is simply one of the best 4K OLED gaming monitors out right now.
Gigabyte Australia kindly loaned the Aorus FO32U2P to PowerUp Gaming for the purpose of this review.
