Razer Basilisk V3 Pro 35K Review – Same, same but better

The Razer Basilisk V3 Pro 35K is the latest addition to the family, and at $279.95, it’s the wunderkind love child if a Razer Viper V3 Pro and the Logitech MX Master 3S hooked up. It’s not a totally new mouse but rather a spec bump on last years Basilisk V3 Pro. The sensor gets bumped to 35K DPI (as if 30K wasn’t already overkill) and battery life in increased by as much as 40% — perfect for marathon spreadsheet sessions or raid nights. If you’re rocking the regular Basilisk V3 Pro though, there’s no pressing reason to upgrade unless you’re desperate for that extra DPI you’ll probably never touch.

As someone who wrestles with Adobe’s interface more than fragging demons in Doom Eternal, I need a mouse that excels at both—one that dominates in firefights while keeping my wrist happy during hours of pixel-perfect UI work. After testing countless gaming mice over the years, the Razer Basilisk has consistently won me over with the comfort, customisation and performance. Even with this new model being just a spec bump, it remains the perfect blend of gaming and productivity mouse for anyone else like me.

Design and Comfort

The Razer Basilisk V3 Pro 35K maintains the exact design of its predecessors — place them side by side and you won’t spot any differences. That’s perfectly fine with me since it’s my favorite gaming mouse shape to hold. You could think of the V3 Pro 35K as the MX Master 3S of gaming mice. At 112g, it’s a substantial mouse that isn’t built for quick CS:GO 2 flick shots. Instead, this chunky, button-rich mouse is designed for precise, deliberate control.

The ergonomic, right-handed shape offers maximum comfort, particularly for palm grip users, though left-handed users are out of luck. The matte black finish looks sleek while providing excellent grip and resisting fingerprints. The rubberized sides enhance control, making the mouse easy to handle during intense gaming sessions.

At 112 grams, it hits the sweet spot between heft and manoeuvrability, offering stability without excess weight — at least for my taste. Lighter options like the Razer Viper V3 Pro feel too insubstantial, especially for non-gaming tasks. The thumb rest on the Basilisk V3 Pro 35K is a standout feature, reducing strain during long sessions. Overall, the design masterfully balances function and aesthetics, living up to Razer’s quality standards.

Customization and Features

Customization is where the Razer Basilisk V3 Pro 35K excels. It offers 11 programmable buttons, including a multi-function trigger strategically placed in the thumb rest. This feature effectively acts as a “shift” button, allowing users to double the number of functions accessible on the mouse. This makes it equally valuable for productivity-focused tasks as it is for competitive gaming, seamlessly transitioning between both use cases with ease.

The HyperScroll tilt wheel is another standout feature, providing both horizontal and vertical scrolling capabilities. Its Smart-Reel functionality automatically switches to a free-spinning mode when scrolling quickly, making it ideal for navigating lengthy documents, web pages, or spreadsheets. This feature enhances efficiency and adds a layer of convenience to day-to-day use, particularly for professionals who need precision and speed.

The inclusion of Chroma RGB lighting with 13 individually customizable zones adds a visually appealing touch. The lighting design is subtle and refined, complementing the overall aesthetic of the mouse without being overly flashy. With Razer Synapse software, users can create tailored lighting effects and synchronize them with other Razer Chroma-enabled devices. This integration allows for a cohesive and polished look, whether the focus is on a gaming setup or a professional workspace.

Battery Life and Connectivity

The Razer Basilisk V3 Pro 35K impresses with its robust battery performance, offering up to 150 hours on HyperSpeed Wireless and over 200 hours via Bluetooth. That’s a 30% boost on HyperSpeed and 40% on Bluetooth compared to its predecessor—pretty impressive! As always, these numbers are calculated with RGB lighting turned off, but even with Chroma lighting active, the impact on battery life is surprisingly minimal. I’ve been using this mouse daily for three weeks and have only needed to charge it once—a testament to its endurance.

When it does need a recharge, the wireless charging support is a welcome convenience. If you spring for the Razer Mouse Dock Pro, you’ll not only unlock the 8,000Hz polling rate but also get a handy charging dock and storage for your wireless dongle. That said, the 8,000Hz feature remains more of a niche flex—great for enthusiasts but overkill for most users. Fortunately, the standard HyperSpeed Wireless connection is rock-solid, delivering seamless performance without any lag, hiccups, or dropouts during testing.

Switching to Bluetooth is equally smooth and adds versatility, especially for users juggling between a gaming setup and a work laptop. A simple flick of the switch lets you toggle between connection modes effortlessly. For those who remain skeptical about wireless performance, the USB Type-C cable provides a reliable wired option. The included braided cable is durable, lightweight, and glides smoothly across your desk, ensuring zero friction during gameplay.

Conclusion

As I mentioned earlier, the Razer Basilisk V3 Pro 35K is a stellar mouse but not a game-changer for anyone already rocking the standard V3 Pro. That said, it remains a well-rounded powerhouse that excels in performance, customization, and comfort, making it equally adept for gaming and productivity tasks.

While its weight might deter fans of ultra-light mice, the ergonomic design and satisfying tactile feedback make it a joy for extended use. The high-performance Focus Pro 35K sensor and Gen-3 optical switches are more than capable of meeting the demands of competitive gaming, even if most of us won’t tap into the full potential of its 35K DPI or 8,000Hz polling rate.

Ultimately, the Basilisk V3 Pro 35K solidifies its place as one of the best gaming mice on the market. Whether you’re slaying in competitive matches or grinding out hours of productivity, this mouse offers top-tier performance with all the bells and whistles you could want—just maybe not enough to justify upgrading from last year’s model.
