Apple announces 2nd generation AirPods Pro with USB-C

Apple has once again taken the stage to introduce their latest innovation in personal audio – the AirPods Pro (2nd generation) with MagSafe Charging (USB‑C). These earbuds build upon the success of their predecessors, delivering an enhanced audio experience, improved noise-cancellation, and an array of new features that promise to elevate your everyday audio encounters. Let’s dive into what makes these AirPods Pro the next big thing in personal audio.

Added Convenience and Durability

One of the standout updates in the new AirPods Pro is the introduction of a USB‑C connector. This not only simplifies your charging setup but also aligns with the USB‑C trend across Apple’s product ecosystem. Whether you’re charging your Mac, iPad, or iPhone 15 series, a single cable can now do it all. Furthermore, you can charge these AirPods Pro directly from your iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro, or iPhone 15 Pro Max, all of which come equipped with a USB‑C connector.

But convenience isn’t the only aspect Apple has improved. The new AirPods Pro boast an improved IP54 rating for both the earbuds and their case, enhancing dust resistance. This means you can confidently bring them along on your outdoor adventures without worrying about the elements.

Introducing Lossless Audio with Apple Vision Pro

Apple is taking wireless audio to the next level with Lossless Audio and Apple Vision Pro. The H2 chip in the latest AirPods Pro, in tandem with Apple Vision Pro, employs a revolutionary wireless audio protocol. This combination unlocks the potential for 20-bit, 48 kHz Lossless Audio with a remarkable reduction in audio latency. This promises an unparalleled wireless audio experience, which will be fully realized when Apple Vision Pro is launched early next year.

With Lossless Audio, your entertainment, gaming, FaceTime calls, and more will be taken to new heights, providing an immersive audio experience like never before.

New Features with iOS 17

AirPods Pro (2nd generation) come with a host of new features thanks to iOS 17, ensuring an even more personalized audio experience:

  • Adaptive Audio: This innovative listening mode blends Transparency mode and Active Noise Cancellation dynamically, adapting to your surroundings. It allows you to stay aware of what’s happening around you while reducing distracting background noise, making it perfect for various environments.
  • Conversation Awareness: When you engage in a conversation nearby, whether at the office or a café, Conversation Awareness intelligently lowers the audio content volume, enhances voices in front of you, and reduces background noise, ensuring you never miss a word.
  • Personalized Volume: Using machine learning, Personalized Volume fine-tunes your listening experience over time based on your preferences and the environment, providing you with an audio experience tailored just for you.

Better for the Environment

Apple is committed to minimizing the environmental impact of its products. The new AirPods Pro are designed with this goal in mind, incorporating various materials and features that reduce their ecological footprint. They use 100% recycled rare earth elements in their magnets, 100% recycled gold in their printed circuit boards, and feature 100% recycled tin in their solder. The case is constructed with 100% recycled aluminum in the hinge.

Moreover, Apple has eliminated the outer plastic wrap from their packaging, with over 90% of the packaging being fiber-based. This step brings Apple closer to its objective of eliminating plastic from all packaging by 2025.
