The Last of Us trailer has been released and it looks intense and perfect

HBO has released the official trailer for the upcoming The Last of Us series. Heading to screens on January 16 (on Binge in Australia), this trailer gives us our best look yet at the journey Joel (Pedro Pascal) and Ellie (Bella Ramsey) will take and how closely it appears to follow The Last of Us Part 1.

Set to a haunting cover of “Take on Me”, the trailer offers a glimpse at the tone of The Last of Us and how it seems the production has really captured both the look and feel of the game.

Also making brief appearances in the trailer are Nick Offerman, Murray Bartlett and Anna Torv as Bill, Frank and Tess respectively.

Rounding out the cast is Gabriel Luna as Tommy, Nico Parker as Sarah, Melanie Lynskey as Kathleen, Storm Reid as Riley, Merle Dandridge as Marlene, Jeffrey Pierce as Perry, Lamar Johnson as Henry, Keivonn Woodard as Sam, Graham Greene as Marlon, and Elaine Miles as Florence.

Both Ashley Johnson and Troy Baker also star, although not in the roles they played in the games obviously.

A co-production with Sony Pictures Television, The Last of Us is written and executive produced by Craig Mazin (Chernobyl) and Neil Druckmann.

The Last of Us premiered on January 16, 2023, and will feature 9 episodes in its first season.
