Medal of Honor: Above and Beyond launches on Oculus Store and Steam in December

EA and Respawn Entertainment are reviving Medal of Honor. However, it’s now a VR title. Medal of Honor: Above and Beyond is coming to the Oculus Store and Steam on December 11 and includes cross-platform play. Set during World War II, Medal of Honor: Above and Beyond “blends films and games into one,” according to EA.

Described as a return to the series roots, Above and Beyond will see players fighting on the ground, sea and sky in Europe, fighting against Nazis and alongside a veteran seargant and young British Medic.

Featuriung both a single player campaign and multiplayer, the campaign is aiming to tell the most immersive World War II story ever. To deliver the game, Respawn has interviewed veterans, travelled to the locations featured, captured performances and sounds from real vehicles to make everything as authentic as possible.

Medal of Honor: Above and Beyond

Peter Hirschmann, Director, Respawn Entertainment said;

The Medal of Honor franchise has always been a powerful series that tells the untold stories of war heroes, and from the beginning of this series in 1999, our goal has been to create grounded and emotionally authentic games that are true to the experiences of people that fought and lived through it.

We’re honored to share these moving first-hand stories from survivors and veterans of WWII and deliver an immersive VR gameplay experience that provides high-flying action and emotional, intimate storytelling in equal measure.

The multiplayer modes included in Medal of Honor: Above and Beyond remain a mystery though EA and Respawn have said some of the modes are only possible through VR. More information about multiplayer will be announced prior to release.

Medal of Honor: Above and Beyond will be available on December 11, 2020.
