Borderlands 3 next DLC is about “Outlaws and Dinosaurs”

At PAX East today, Gearbox announced that Borderlands 3 is coming to Steam and revealed the second DLC; Guns, Love & Tentacles. And while both of these announcements are enough to get fans excited, Gearbox also delivered a sneak peek at Borderlands 3’s next DLC. The third campaign DLC (of four) is still a ways off, winter in Australia, we now know that it’s going to feature “Outlaws and Dinosaurs.”

The concept art (above) shows two figures, wearing cowboy hats, wielding revolvers and riding dinosaurs. Sounds like a recipe for a good time.

The only thing that Gearbox has revealed of Borderlands 3‘s next DLC at this stage is the concept art and the words “Outlaws and Dinosaurs.”

Borderlands 3 Next DLC

Borderlands 3’s second DLC is set on the icy planet Xylourgos and tells the story of the engagement party and wedding of Wainright and Hammerlock. The story also features cultists, Lovecraftian themes and some deadly new enemies.

Given the pulpy nature of this DLC and the first (Moxxi’s Heist of the Handsome Jackpot), it’s likely that Gearbox will continue in that fashion.

Prior to the announcement, we spoke to Anthony Nicholson, Gearbox’s Head of DLC Production and asked about the third DLC. Nicholson was obviously very guarded about it but told me that he was excited because of the “really strong Western vibes.”

Borderlands has always felt like a bit of a Western, though it’s moved away from that somewhat with Borderlands 3’s planet-hopping adventure. Returning to the series’ roots and going on a good old fashioned space cowboy journey sounds brilliant.

Gearbox has promised to reveal more on Borderlands 3’s next DLC at a later date.

Guns, Love & Tentacles: The Marriage of Wainright and Hammerlock is coming to PC, PS4 and Xbox One on March 26, 2020.
