Borderlands 3 Rare Chest Riches mini-event is now live

Gearbox has announced that another Borderlands 3 mini-event is live. The Rare Chest Riches event will run until February 13 and will see Rare Chests drop rare loot more frequently. This means, Borderlands 3 players, who play during the mini-event, have a better chance of receiving Legendary items.

The Rare Chest Riches Borderlands 3 mini-event coincides with the conclusion of the current Farming Frenzy event. Farming Frenzy is a two-week event that gives players more incentive to farm enemies with dedicated loot drops.

Repeatable bosses from the campaign, Proving Grounds and Circle of Slaughter arenas and Takedown at the Maliwan Blacksite and named enemies have a higher chance to drop Legendary items.

Additionally, Gearbox has increased the Anointment rate for dropped gear. Farming Frenzy ends later today; 4pm AEDT, January 31, 2020.

For players who love to watch their favourite streamers play Borderlands 3, the increased drop-rate also applies when watching them. Both the streamer and the viewer need to have the ECHOcast Twitch Extension enabled.

Any rewards earned while watching streamers will be in your mailbox when you return to Borderlands 3. For instructions on how to link your SHiFT and Twitch accounts, head here.

Additionally, a hotfix pushed out today will “permanently increase the spawn and drop rates of Rare Spawns, Hammerlock Hunts, and Targets of Opportunity, buffing their Legendary drop rates and Anointed chances to be on par with bosses.”

Finally, the scaling event for Takedown at the Maliwan Blacksite will continue in perpetuity, rather than finishing today. According to Gearbox;

Going forward, the difficulty of Takedown at the Maliwan Blacksiteand all future Takedowns will scale by default, though the upcoming February Update will add a new machine that allows you to re-enable “True Takedown Mode.”

True Takedown Mode restores the Takedown to the original difficulty level – which was designed with four-player co-op in mind – for an extra challenge.

Once implemented, this new machine will be located on the right side of the door leading out of the airlock at the beginning of the map.

Borderlands 3 is available on PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
