World of Warships: Legends adds cross-platform play, Ranked Battles and events; Firepower Deluxe edition launches at retail

It’s a big week for World of Warships: Legends. Not only is a new update launching on November 25, but a retail version of the game has also launched. World of Warships: Legends Firepower Deluxe Edition is the first-ever Wargaming title to be sold at retail and is a partnership with Gearbox Publishing. Friday’s update is also a very big deal as it adds cross-platform play between PS4 and Xbox One, Ranked Battles and Black Friday Events.

World of Warships: Legends’ cross-platform play is another first for Wargaming as it will be the first console title to support it. “Making sure that our players have the best experience possible is our biggest goal, so I’m excited that both sets of fans will be able to enjoy World of Warships: Legends together,” states Victor Kislyi, Wargaming CEO. “This is just the first step in our cross-play efforts; it’s definitely something we want to build on in the future.”

Until now, World of Warships: Legends players could only play with and against others on the same platform; PS4 or Xbox One. Now, players are able to battle with and against anyone regardless of whether they’re playing on PS4 or Xbox One. This gives the community a huge boost and increases the total number of players to potentially match with.

When the update launches on November 25, cross-platform play will be limited to matchmaking. Players cannot interact cross-platform as yet, however, Wargaming says that it is working on making the feature fully functional.

Also being added with the November update is Ranked Battles. Until now, Ranked Battles have been missing from World of Warships: Legends with players only able to participate in standard player matches. Ranked Battles are going to bring a whole new world of competition to the game as they introduce amazing rewards. Ranked Battles are a part of the Ranked Sprints where every battle counts.

Two types of Ranked Battles have been announced; Tier V and Tier IV.

Another new feature being added in this update emphasises Black Friday. World of Warships: Legends is getting in on the sales season with a massive sale that includes some exclusive discounts and deals. Three ‘Black Edition’ ships will be on sale; Warspite B, Scharnhorst B, and the Atlanta B.

The Atlanta was awarded to players who completed the first season in-game. This is the first opportunity for players to purchase it since the game launched. Black Edition ships come with a special, jet-black skin to make them stand out from the crowd.

As for the Firepower Deluxe Edition, it comes with premium content including a month of premium account time, in-game currency and four premium ships; the Iwaki, Kamikaze, Texas and Arizona.

It retails for $69.96 AUD.

World of Warships: Legends is now available on both PS4 and Xbox One and from Friday, November 25, 2019, players will have access to cross-platform play and ranked battles.
