Production has started on the new Mortal Kombat movie

Production on New Line Cinema’s Mortal Kombat movie is officially underway with Australian Simon McQuoid at the helm. In his feature debut, McQuoid will be working with a diverse, international cast and will be filming in South Australia, the biggest production in the state’s history.

The Mortal Kombat movie is based on Mortal Kombat 11 and will feature franchise characters Sub Zero, Liu Kang, Sonya Blade and more.

The film will be produced by James Wan — The Conjuring, Aquaman — and Todd Garner — TAG — and has a screenplay written by Greg Russo.

Starring in the film is;

Joe Taslim as Sub Zero; Ludi Lin as Liu Kang; Jessica McNamee as Sonya Blade; Josh Lawson as Kano; Tadanobu Asano as Raiden; Mehcad Brooks as Jackson “Jax” Bridges; Chin Han as Shang Tsung; Hiroyuki Sanada as Scorpion; Max Huang as Kung Lao; Sisi Stringer as Mileena; and Lewis Tan.

The movie is set to be released on March 4, 2021.
