Call of Duty: Modern Warfare open beta begins this week on PS4; get all the details

PS4 players will be the first cab off the rank to jump into the Modern Warfare Open Beta this week. The multiplayer beta will be available first on PS4 and then roll out to other platforms. Activision and Infinity Ward have announced that they will host two open beta “weekends.” Each weekend will run for five days with the first weekend exclusive to PS4.

Early Access to the first two days of the first weekend will be available for players who pre-ordered Modern Warfare on PS4. After these first two days, the open beta is available for all PS4 players.

The second weekend will be open to Xbox One and PC, in addition to PS4 and will include crossplay.

Modern Warfare Open Beta

The second weekend will also include an Early Access period. This will be open for all PS4 players and all Xbox One and PC players who have pre-ordered the game.

After the second weekend’s two days of early access are over, anyone on PS4, PC or Xbox One will be able to play the Modern Warfare Open Beta. On PC, you will need a Battle.net account to play.

To access the beta from a pre-order, Activision has provided this information;

Retail Pre-Order Players

Accessing Your Beta Code: Check the email of the address that’s attached to your Call of Duty account.If you don’t see this email in your inbox, check your SPAM/Junk folder.If you find the Beta Codes email in either of these folders, make sure you mark these emails as “Not Spam” so you can continue to receive important messages from Call of Duty. Head to the callofduty.com/redeem and login with your COD account.If you don’t find the email in either place, or your beta code on the redemption site reach out to Player Support.

Downloading the Beta (PS4): Once you’ve received your Beta Code, go to the PlayStation® StoreSelect ‘Redeem Codes’Enter your Beta Code and the download will begin!

Downloading the Beta (XBox One): Once you’ve received your Beta Code, go to the Microsoft Store.Select ‘Use a Code’.Enter your Beta Code and the download will begin!

Downloading the Beta (PC Dark Edition: Battle.net)

Once you’ve received your Beta Code, log in to Battle.net. Visit ‘Account Settings’. Select the ‘Games & Codes’ tab then ‘Code Redemption’. Enter your Beta Code and the download will begin!

Digital Pre-Order Players

Beta Code is Not Needed: If you pre-ordered Modern Warfare digitally, you are automatically ready to download the Beta. Look for instructions regarding preloading availability, and then visit your platform’s store:

Downloading the Beta (PS4): Go to the PlayStation® Store, search for Modern Warfare, follow the prompts and install the Beta.

Downloading the Beta (XBox One): Go to the Microsoft Store, look for Modern Warfare, following the prompts to download the Beta, and you’re set!

Downloading the Beta (PC: Battle.net)

Log in to Battle.net. Head to the Modern Warfare page and install the Beta.    

Pre-loading of the beta will begin on at 3 am, Wednesday, September 11, 2019, for the first weekend. The pre-load for the second weekend will take place on September 19.

The Modern Warfare Open Beta dates are as follows;

  • Weekend 1 (PS4 Only)
    • Early Access
      • September 12 -13
    • All PS4 Players
      • September 14-16
  • Weekend 2 (All Platforms)
    • Early Access
      • September 19-20
    • All Players
      • September 21-23

Activision and Infinity Ward haven’t revealed which maps or playlists will be available during the beta but have promised to provide ongoing details throughout both weekends.

Expect an epic and ever-changing series of Maps, Playlists, and other content drops throughout the Beta Test Weekends, with surprises and a great deal of content to access! If you’re wanting more precise details on the content available, look for additional information @CallofDuty and @InfinityWard on Social Media.

Finally, a special beta website on the Activision Games Blog will be updated throughout the beta to provide information and up to date intel on all the content.

Modern Warfare will be released on October 25, 2019.
