Planet Zoo shows off first gameplay, reveals developer diary and release date

Frontier Developments has announced that Planet Zoo is coming to PC on Steam in November. It will be available in a Standard and Deluxe Edition and pre-orders are now open. Additionally, Frontier has released a trailer showing off Planet Zoo’s in-game visuals and the animals that will inhabit your zoo. Frontier Developments has previously explained how the animals in Planet Zoo will be as authentic as possible.

Animals will think, feel, explore and experience the world you create for them in as realistic a way as possible. Frontier Developments has put this at the forefront of development saying that “animal welfare and conservation” comes first.

Planet Zoo

Having developed Jurassic World Evolution, Planet Coaster and Zoo Tycoon, Frontier Developments wants to create the ultimate zoo sim. This new game will include a campaign that spans the globe as well as a Sandbox mode to let your imagination do the building.

The Deluxe Edition includes the game plus;

  • Pre-launch Beta access.
  • Three exclusive animals.
  • High-quality wallpapers.
  • Original Soundtrack by Jim Guthrie and JJ Ipsen.

Anyone who pre-orders either version will gain access to the beta and will add the Komodo Dragon, Pygmy Hippo and Thomson’s Gazelle to their game at launch.

With the in-game reveal above, Frontier Developments is also releasing a series of developer diaries. The first (below) discusses how the team is working to create an authentic experience and make the game as realistic as possible.

Planet Zoo launches for PC on Steam on November 5, 2019.
