Gearbox likes the idea of Borderlands on Switch but has nothing to confirm right now

During the Borderlands 3 gameplay reveal event, I had the chance to sit down with Lead Lighting Artist Carl Shedd. Shedd has been working on Borderlands since the first game was released in 2009.

In the interim, we’ve seen Borderlands 2 released on PS Vita and a PSVR version come to PS4.

With such a successful franchise and the Nintendo Switch being so popular, I asked Shedd if Gearbox had any plans to release any Borderlands titles for the Switch.

Borderlands Switch

According to Shedd, he’s not aware of any plans to bring Borderlands GOTYBorderlands The Handsome Collection or Borderlands 3 to Switch.

Oh, I don’t know actually. I don’t know. Not that I know of. Not on my side of things.

Shedd went on to say that Borderlands GOTY was great on backwards compatibility and would certainly be a lot of fun on the Switch.

I’m with you. It would be a lot of fun to have it on there.

Unfortunately, Shedd wasn’t able to confirm or deny anything about any Borderlands games on Switch. He didn’t outright say no, so at least there’s hope.

Randy Pitchford also recently responded to a fan’s query about the games coming to Switch on Twitter.

Again, this isn’t a confirmation or denial but simply shows that Gearbox likes the idea of Borderlands on Switch. For now though, it doesn’t look like we’ll be seeing Borderlands on Switch anytime soon.

Borderlands 3 will be released for PC, PS4 and Xbox One on September 13.
