Conan Unconquered is the first RTS set in the Conan the Barbarian universe

Funcom has teamed up with developer Petroglyph — 8-Bit Armies, 8-Bit Hordes, 8-Bit Invaders — to create the first ever Conan the Barbarian RTS. Conan Unconquered is that game and it’s due for release in 2019.

In development at Petroglyph, a studio that includes talent that helped create Dune II and Command & Conquer, Conan Unconquered is in good hands. The video below has just been released and shows off some alpha gameplay of the game as well as a look behind the scenes at Petroglyph’s Las Vegas studio.

Funcom is bringing Conan Unconquered to GDC in 2019 and will offer the first hands-on with the game at the event.

Conan Unconquered

According to Funcom;

Conan Unconquered is a fast-paced strategy game where players face wave after wave of enemies in ever-increasing numbers and difficulty. To withstand the savage hordes players must build an unconquerable stronghold and put up walls and other defensive measures to avoid utter destruction.

It will also be playable as a single-player experience and in two-player co-op. In two-player mode, players will need to work together to manage a shared stronghold and prevent the onslaught of the hordes from taking over.

Wave after wave of increasingly more difficult enemies will rush at your gates and you will need to manage resources, research new technologies to advance your defenses, and recruit an ever-growing army if you are to save survive utter destruction.

Funcom and Petroglyph liken it to They Are Billions as enemy hordes will continue to attack without stopping. How long players survive will depend on their ability to build and maintain a stronghold.
