Mechs Get Ready to Rumble in World of Tanks Mercenaries

World of Tanks Mercenaries gives everything away with its title. It’s a game about tanks. However, the next limited-time mode for the game means World of Tanks Mercenaries mechs are just around the corner.

Core Breach is coming to World of Tanks Mercenaries at the end of January and is transforming the way the game is played. Instead of the massive metal machines of yesteryear, Core Breach focuses on the machines of the future.

Inspired by the mechs of Hollywood and anime, Core Breach makes World of Tanks Mercenaries mechs do battle in a way tanks can’t match.

Core Breach will run from January 29 through February 4 and will offer two mechs for players to choose from; “the gigantic US Iron Soldier, or the sleek and deadly USSR Steel Comrade.”

Battles will be 4v4 Deathmatches and will take place on the Old River City map, though it will be given a snowy, wintery makeover. Each mech will come equipped with lasers, missiles and machine guns. Like Titanfall, mechs explode when destroyed so make sure you get clear so you don’t get caught in the blast.

Designed by Wargaming Chicago-Baltimore, formerly known as Day 1 Studios, World of Tanks Mercenaries mechs is a welcome return home as many on the team helped create Microsoft’s MechAssault series.

Core Breach joins the long line of limited-time events that turn World of Tanks Mercenaries formula on its head. Previous events have included battles at sea, tank battles on Mars and an alien invasion.

In addition to Core Breach, new tanks are coming to World of Tanks Mercenaries; Javelin Krupp-Steyr Waffenträger and Skullcap.

Javelin Krupp-Steyr Waffenträger is;

a new Tank Destroyer that won’t fail to hit its mark. This metal hero is kitted out with welded-on spaced armor, keeps a stealthy profile, and can dish out punishment with a quick and accurate gun

Skullcap will be available on January 28 and is a Premium Mercenary.

This hellraising tank mounts a gun which handles like a dream while on the move, and with armor specifically designed to counter flanking attacks and a fast-firing gun on hand, it provides awesome frontline support.

World of Tanks Merecenaries is available now on PS4 and Xbox One.
