IEM Sydney 2019 returns for a third year, tickets on sale now

The world’s premier Counter-Strike tournament returns to Sydney in 2019. IEM Sydney 2019 runs from May 3-5 and sees the best CS: GO teams from across the globe head to Sydney to compete for the third year in a row.

You’re invited to view the action live, either on Twitch or at Qudos Bank Arena. Watch as 16 of the best teams in the world fight for their share of $250,000 USD as well as fame and glory.

Points will also be awarded and will go towards announcing the overall IEM Grand Slam Champions. This title nets the first team to win four Grand Slams a tidy sum of $1-million USD.

IEM Sydney 2019

Last year’s IEM Sydney winners, FaZe Clan, hold two of the four pieces needed. They’ll be looking to add a third as they aim to defend their Australian ground championship. But IEM Sydney 2018 runners up Astralis have three wins and are looking for revenge and that fourth piece of that million dollar puzzle.

With over 7500 bums on seats at IEM Sydney in 2018, as well as 13.5 million viewers online, it was without a doubt the highest viewed Esports event in Australia, and continues to grow.

With such a prominent sponsor of the longest running pro gaming circuit series and their support of the Counter-Strike community, it’s comes as no surprise that attendees will also be able to witness demos of the latest Intel tech, including 9th gen processors.

Booths will be showing upcoming PC releases and VR gaming with amazing Intel tech so there’s loads to do between matches.

Nick Vanzetti, Senior Vice President of ESL Asia-Pacific Japan is confident that IEM Sydney 2019 will be the best yet;

It’s a true testament to the strength of Esports in our country, and we’ll be working hard to ensure it’s another unforgettable experience for every person who attends.

With opportunities to meet your favourite players and get your merch signed, any true fans of Esports will be there. Counter-Strike continues to grow both as a competitive game and as a casual pass time, with a team of developers releasing finely tuned patches frequently.

It’s crazy to think a Half Life 1 mod released late in the year 2000 could ever become this big, but we are grateful it took off and has connected so many of us.

Tickets for IEM Sydney 2019 are available now through Ticketek. Single day passes start at just $39, so get in while they last.

The qualifying and invited teams are yet to be announced, but you can catch all the action and announcements as soon as it drops by following the Intel ExtremeMasters on Twitter & Facebook.

Remember you can also catch PowerUp! on Twitter as well as myself @tuned_tv. I’m hoping my Melbourne ORDER boys can pull out all stops and step up to the world stage and I hope to see you at IEM Sydney 2019.
