Blizzard ANZ put out the call and fans answered with nearly 600 PAX attendees pledging blood to the Lord of Terror

Stay a while and listen.

At PAX Aus this year Blizzard ANZ gave fans the opportunity to be a true hero and help save lives. Partnering with the Australian Red Cross Blood Service at the Diablo sponsored Handheld Lounge and roaming cosplayers, Blizzard sought to sign gamers up with a pledge of a blood donation.

It’s no secret that the Red Cross does amazing work, but did you know that 1 in 3 Australians will need blood in their lifetime? And that every donation can save up to three lives?

Diablo 3 Blood Drive

Those attending PAX Aus were able to go hands-on with Diablo 3 Eternal Collection on the Switch and make an appointment to donate while you’re there. Those who pledged and played the game were able to nab some dope swag like limited edition Pinny Arcade Diablo Pins and a Diablo 3 Limited Edition Switch Bundle.

It’s now been revealed that the blood drive was a storming success with 576 people pledging blood to the Lord of Terror, Diablo. Or the Red Cross, I forget which is which. If all 576 people who pledged end up giving blood, it could save over 1,700 lives.

Marketing Director, Australian Red Cross Blood Service Sam Bartlett said of the event;

We’re thrilled with the response and generosity of the Australian gaming community. This outstanding effort has helped us continue our life-giving work, and ensures blood products are available for all Australians when they need it. Thank you to those who raised their hand to be a hero to someone in need

If you couldn’t make it to PAX but still want to help out, then contact the Blood Service either on their website or make a call to 13 14 95.

Everyone dreams of being a hero, this is a heroic act you can achieve today!
