Meet Two Huge Transformers fans to celebrate PlayWorld and the BumbleBee movie

There’s a lot going on for Transformers fans at the moment.  The new Transformers TCG is due for its initial release stateside on September 28, with a release in other markets slated for a little later in 2018.

The character card-centric game appears to have lots of potential, with relatively simple mechanics but plenty of room for deep strategising. Combining this with fantastic card art there is plenty to appeal to all sorts of players and collectors.

Developed by Wizards Of The Coast, the company has described the Transformers TCG as;

The Transformers TCG is a fast-paced trading card game for 2 players. Build a team of Transformers Character Cards and a deck of Battle Cards, and then jump right into battle!

For full gameplay, each player builds a team of Transformers Character Cards (up to 25 stars when stars on Character Cards are added together), and a deck of 40 or more Battle Cards.

Releasing in Australia on December 20, 2018, is the latest in the Transformers film series; BumbleBee. A prequel to the other films, it’s set in 1987 and sees Bee and his human companion on the run from Sector 7.

Bee may just find out that he’s not the only Transformer on Earth and not all are friendly.

BumbleBee appears to follow a story on a slightly more personal scale than recent entries in the series.

To celebrate the upcoming film release and the glory of all things BumbleBee, Hasbro will be exhibiting a large collection of vintage BumbleBee toys at PlayWorld this weekend. PlayWorld, described as “PAX for kids” is a massive convention for children with all manner of exhibitors and activities.

Hasbro has also sought out and interviewed two of Australia’s biggest collectors of Transformers toys. Boasting Collections of several thousand toys each Griffin and Kelvin share a little about their favourite transformers and what inspires them to collect.

Games have always been a big part of my life in all types of formats. I'm just as happy with a deck of cards or a bunch of miniatures as I am with a keyboard and mouse or controller. Any game where there is a little teamwork happening is usually going be my favourite. I'm very partial to a good RTS, RPG or FPS session with friends, a beer and some decent music.
