The Sennheiser GSP 550 is a 7.1 gaming headset coming in October

“The Sennheiser GSP 550 is coming to stores in late October and is set to deliver an audio experience like no other. The GSP 550 features 7.1 Dolby Surround Sound to let you experience games in true surround.

In addition to the Dolby 7.1, being a Sennheiser product, the GSP 550 makes use of Sennheiser’s proprietary open speaker system. This open acoustic design includes speakers that have been positioned to channel “sound directly into the ears.”

Sennheiser is also promising “natural sound performance” and “enhanced low-frequency response.”

The headset comes with a Surround Dongle which allows users to optimise their listening experience at the press of a button. It also comes paired PC software allowing users to design their own custom sound experience.

It includes several different sound modes, four equaliser settings; games, esports, music and a neutral setting.

Andreas Jessen, Head of Product Management Gaming, Sennheiser Communications said;

Thanks to its Surround Dongle, the GSP 550 makes it effortless for gamers to tailor their sound experience via Sennheiser’s intuitive software to be exactly the way they want.

We know that for dedicated gamers, lightning fast, intuitive controls are vital. This is why we created a streamlined user interface that, for example, lets you rapidly switch between stereo and surround sound at a touch.

Designed with comfort in mind, the Sennheiser GSP 550 features a 2-axis mechanism to give the earcups freedom of movement. The solid metal hinge ensures it will endure normal wear and tear and the entire product has been designed to fit all head shapes and sizes.

The GSP 550 features a pressure mechanism in the headband to make sure the headset sits snugly, but not too tight. To avoid those sweaty gaming sessions, the earcups are ventilated and covered with a breathable fabric.

Finally, the microphone that comes included with the GSP 550 features noise cancellation and three separate settings for how loudly gamers are able to hear themselves.

Available in late October, the Sennheiser GSP 550 will retail for $399.95 AUD.
