NBA 2K18 sells more than 10 million units

2K has announced that in addition to being the highest rated NBA game of the generation, NBA 2K18 has now sold over 10 million copies worldwide. Founded in 1999, NBA 2K the franchise has also sold over 80 million copies worldwide.

The latest title in the series, NBA 2K18, features Kyrie Irving as the cover star and Shaquille O’Neal on standard and legend editions.

NBA 2K has long been held up as the best, most technical and most realistic sports game available. These sales figures only help to reinforce that.

NBA 2K18 10 Million

2K has also provided an infographic for NBA 2K18 stating that players have played over 2 billion games in total which equals 16,000 NBA seasons. There have also been over 31 million MyPLAYERs created, which is roughly the same as the population of California.

Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick said of the milestone;

The ability to improve consistently upon an annual series and grow its audience reflects the team’s drive to remain on the leading edge of pop culture and finding new and exciting ways to captivate and engage players.

President of Visual Concepts, Greg Thomas was also proud of the achievement, saying;

“It’s incredibly rewarding that the team’s hard work and desire to achieve greatness in NBA 2K has reached so many fans around the globe, and now we look forward to the challenge of setting new benchmarks with the upcoming release of NBA 2K19.”

NBA 2K18 is available now and NBA 2K19 will be available on September 11, 2018.
