Warframe players experience The Sacrifice ahead of this weekend’s TennoCon

Digital Extremes has released the newest update for Warframe, titled ‘The Sacrifice.’ Available today for home consoles this update was released several weeks prior for PC.

The team has worked hard to push the update out for consoles, aiming to get it out prior to the fan conference, TennoCon, which is being held this weekend.

Great success!

The Sacrifice represents the third and final cinematic quest in the current trilogy, which started with ‘The Second Dream’ and continued into ‘The War Within.’

Warframe The Sacrifice

This particular storyline follows a key thread within the overall story, focusing directly on the nature and origin of the Tenno, which are essentially the player characters.

However, as all players of Warframe would attest, the storyline itself is so surprising, with several unexpected twists and turns, that it would be best to leave it at that – players should discover the story on their own

This new quest will award players with a new Warframe – Excalibur Umbra – which has been eagerly anticipated for some time now. In addition, there are new mod sets to further augment weapons and warframes, a UI update, and some other surprises besides.

Of course, the real update is the quest itself, which is bound to answer a few questions; as well as kickstart some new ones, I’m sure. As a console player myself, I’ve managed to keep myself spoiler free, so I’m very keen to get my hands on some Warframe tonight.

For interested parties, note that you can not simply jump into Warframe and start up the quest – there are some pre-requisites. You will need to have completed the other two quests in the trilogy (naturally), as well as the ‘Chains of Harrow’ quest, and ‘The Apostasy: Prologue’ before you can kick off ‘The Sacrifice.’

Keep in mind, this probably represents about 100 hours of content.

Me? I’m ready to go.

What do you get?

As part of the celebration, Digital Extremes is also giving away some freebies. If you head over to Warframe.com and go to the Promo Codes page, you can put in the code OLDFRIEND for a free Orokin Tea Set and a three day Affinity Booster.

This is available for all platforms until 11:59 p.m. ET, July 20, 2018. In addition, Warframe players that have linked their Twitch Prime account to their Warframe account can get Trinity Prime and the Spektaka Prime Syandana for free via the Free Prime with Prime promotion.

And that’s not all – if you watch 30 consecutive minutes of the TennoLive presentation on Twitch this weekend (6 p.m. ET, July 7, 2018 – that’s 8 a.m. AEST July 8 locally), you will also be awarded Ash Prime.

I’m not sure if you need Twitch Prime to earn Ash Prime, but I’ve reached out to Digital Extremes to confirm.

As a Warframe player, I can confirm that both Trinity Prime and Ash Prime are worthy warframes to add to your collection.

Get excited and watch the trailer for ‘The Sacrifice’ below.
