Mega Man 11 release date confirmed, coming this October

In celebration of his 30th anniversary, Capcom has announced that the blue bomber will be coming back in 2018. The Mega Man 11 release date was announced today, and it will be available for PC, PS4, Switch and Xbox One in October.

Once again, Dr Wily is up to his old tricks. With the help of Dr Light and the all-new double gear system, Mega Man will have to save the day.

In development at Capcom by a team of veterans, Mega Man 11 will retain the classic gameplay of the series while infusing it with a modern style.

Mega Man 11 Release Date

In Mega Man 11, Dr Wily recalls an idea he had while studying at Robot University alongside Dr Light. The prototype, known as the Double Gear, would be dangerous in the wrong hands. To put a stop to Wily’s plans, Mega Man and Dr Light will need to make use of the prototype.

This new system isn’t only the crux of the game’s plot, it’s an integral change to the way players play. Alongside the Double Gear, Mega Man can access the Speed Gear and Power Gear.

  • Speed Gear – Introduces the ability to slow the flow of time, a useful tool for many situations such as navigating tricky platforming sections or avoiding fast-moving enemies or obstacles.
  • Power Gear – Allows players to charge the Mega Buster to a new level, and weapon-based abilities become even more robust.
  • Double Gear – When at critical health, Mega Man will gain access to a hidden ability to activate both gears simultaneously, unleashing maximum power and allowing for deft manoeuvres in the direst situations.

In addition to today’s Mega Man 11 release date announcement, a brand-new trailer (below) has been released. In it, fans get their first look at two new bosses; Block Man and Fuse Man.

Coming on October 2, 2018, Mega Man 11 looks set to be a game that fans will love.
