PUBG Xbox Updates for Autumn have been revealed

In a new blog post on the official PUBG website, the future of PUBG Xbox updates has been revealed.

The post sets out the PUBG Xbox updates for Spring, which equates to Autumn in Australia.

In the post it states that PUBG Corp and Microsoft are committed to improving the PUBG experience on console.

The post states that in the coming months, “we trust that you will see meaningful improvements to optimizations, new content additions, compelling reasons to play, and refinements to the overall console experience.”

PUBG Corp is calling the plan for PUBG Xbox updates the Spring roadmap and it focuses on the following;

  • Continued performance optimizations
  • UI optimizations
  • Improve Inventory UX
  • Improvements to Console Controller Options
  • Improvements to game matchmaking
  • Console Player Reporting Features
  • Updates to Vehicle Penetration
  • Game Highlights
  • Achievements
  • Sound
  • Customization
  • Test server

In the blog post, PUBG Corp admits that it isn’t satisfied with PUBG’s performance on Xbox One. Improving the performance is a high priority with some changes already implemented.

“We have found some immediate opportunity to increase framerate through changes to Erangel’s building materials, as well as some reduction to in-game foliage composition.

“Until we are completely satisfied in the quality and reliability of the experience, efforts to optimize performance will be an ongoing hi-priority issue.”

PUBG Xbox Updates – The Road Ahead

Some specific changes that have been made thus far include;

  • Optimized game characters and their movements
  • Optimized the number of particle effects that are spawned by vehicles and grenades
  • Optimized object collision complexity
  • Balanced the game work across all CPU cores to reduce streaming hitches when moving

PUBG Corp writes in the blog post that the update cycle is going to be extended to between two and three weeks.  The goal is to ensure stable updates that consistently improve the experience.

In addition to the updates, fixes and patches which are details on the blog post, it’s bee announced that the Miramar map will be coming to PUBG on Xbox One in early Autumn (Spring in the Northern Hemisphere).

PUBG is available on PC and Xbox One.
