Destiny 2 – How to increase your Power level quickly

Now that Destiny 2 is out and the Raid is fast approaching, Guardians are working feverishly to increase their Power level. There are a number of ways to do this, but there is one way that’s quicker than the rest.

Participating in the Crucible, Strike playlist, completing Heroic Public Events and handing in tokens will all get you gear to take you to the 265 Power soft cap. Breaking through that cap is where the real grind starts. You’ll need to find Exotic Engrams and gear as well as Legendary gear over and above a Power level of 265.

These can drop from any of the above activities, but Milestones that award you with ‘Powerful Gear’ are the best and fastest way to break through the cap. The first chance you’ll have to get ‘Powerful Gear’ will come from Shaxx. When you first reach the Farm and unlock the Crucible, you’ll receive a MIlestone to play Crucible matches and earn reputation.

There are a few steps to the quest line and once completed Shaxx will reward you with Powerful Gear. Don’t accept the reward until you have reached the soft cap of 265 or above. The Powerful Gear will decrypt above your current Power level and help push you up toward the higher levels.

Other NPCs will reward you with Powerful Gear for completing Milestones too. Make sure you hold off from accepting them, however tempting, until you start to hit the wall. The same strategy applies to Exotic Quests for the Mida Multi Tool, Rat King and Sturm. Don’t hand in the final step of the Quest until your Power level is at least 265 or higher.

If you’ve already done so, you can always start a new character and use the strategy with them. The armour won’t be transferable, but the weapons will be. This precious few Power levels might be the difference between victory and defeat in the Raid.

Destiny 2 is available now for PS4 and Xbox One.
