As it’s a Switch title and features Nintendo characters, it’s little wonder that there is amiibo support. But what do the amiibo unlock, which amiibo are compatible and how do you access them? We’re here to help.

Unlocking amiibo functionality

After you complete Chapter 5 – Brother Where Art Thou in World 1 – Ancient Gardens you will unlock the amiibo R&D building at Peach’s Castle. The amiibo R&D is located behind the castle, past the Museum and washing machine.

There’s a pipe to the left of the main entrance to Peach’s Castle which you can take to quickly get to amiibo R&D. Once you enter the building you’ll be presented with a screen with some very familiar silhouettes.

Now you can start tapping your amiibo.

Which amiibo are compatible and what do they unlock?

As you can see in the image above, the amiibo that are compatible with Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle are Mario, Luigi, Peach and Yoshi. Both the Super Mario collection amiibo and the Super Smash Bros. amiibo work with the title.

Simply press A when you’re at the screen above and then tap the amiibo to the right analogue stick of the right-hand Joy-Con or to the centre of the Pro Controller. You will unlock the following;

Mario

Flame Job weapon for Mario
Bone Shaker secondary weapon for Rabbid Mario

Luigi

Phosphorous weapon for Luigi
Burning Question weapon for Rabbid Luigi

Peach

Block Blaster weapon for Peach
Barrel Blaster weapon for Rabbid Peach

Yoshi

Torpedo secondary weapon for Yoshi
Mega Bite weapon for Rabbid Yoshi

Most of the weapons in Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle have decent stats, but the amiibo weapons seem to go just that little bit higher in terms of damage and distance. If you have the amiibo, you should definitely use them to unlock the weapons early on.

All other weapons in the game also require you to spend the coins you’ve collected. amiibo weapons don’t require you to use any coins, so that’s an added bonus.

Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle is exclusive to Nintendo Switch.
