Athletico Esports takes home the 2017 ANZ Rainbow Six Siege championship

On August 19, the best teams playing Rainbow 6 Siege in Australia were invited to take part in the 2017 ANZ Invitational Championships. The final came down to the number one ranked team Corvidae and Athletico Esports.

Three of the five matches went into overtime and a final deciding round was required to determine the winner. Eventually, Athletico Esports emerged victorious on Kafe Dostoyevsky to take home the $5,000 prize and championship.

Eight teams were invited to take part in the competition qualifiers and the top two teams were flown to Sydney to compete in the final. The event took place at ESL Studio and was live-streamed across the world.

With the ANZ Invitational now completed, the focus shifts to the APAC Pro League Season. The APAC Pro League will be divided into four sub-regions; Japan, South Korea, South East Asia and Australia & New Zealand.

The sub-regions will each host their own Pro League tournaments throughout September. The best two teams in each sub-regions will compete live in Sydney at ESL Studio on October 22-22. The two finalists from these events will be named APAC Champions and will represent the region in Brazil for the Pro League Finals in November.

Congratulations to Athletico Esports on taking out the top prize. Big congratulations to all the competitors and everyone involved. Let’s hope some Aussies can go all the way.

Rainbow Six Siege is available for PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
