Activision says Destiny 2 is going to be “awesome”

Activision’s CEO Eric Hirshberg has spoken openly about the intentions for Destiny 2 from the publisher.

During the Q3 2016 earnings call for Activision Blizzard. Hirshberg revealed that development on the sequel is well underway and it should be released in 2017, but wouldn’t clarify any further on dates.

He did explain that it was hoped that the sequel would further broaden the appeal of the franchise and draw in even greater numbers of players. “We’re on track and excited about what we think is going to be an awesome sequel for Destiny in 2017,” he said.

Hirshberg also revealed that Activision and Bungie will be looking at a “smart approach” to delivering content regularly. Destiny and the demand for content had outpaced Bungie’s ability to produce new content and as such, Activision and Bungie will be working to deliver a steady stream of updates following the release of the seuqel.

Destiny is available for PS4 and Xbox One.
