Nintendo will not halt production of Wii U anytime soon

Last week, Eurogamer reported that sources close to Nintendo were claiming that the publisher would cease production on the Wii U.

The sources claimed that the final orders were completed last week and that no further units would be produced beyond Friday November 4, 2016.

Nintendo responded to the report and denied that it was ending Wii U production. Speaking to IT Media in Japan, a spokesperson said, “There is no change to our continuing [Wii U] production. Even though the Nintendo Switch is slated to go on sale, [Wii U] production is scheduled to continue.”

The spokesperson also revealed that there will be new Wii U games added to the release schedule.
