Take A Look Behind The Scenes Of LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga

Long have I waited…well, maybe not quite as long as Palpatine for his wayward grandchild to return home but still. LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga has officially gone gold (essentially finalised a release build) ahead of its April 5th release date, the good news coinciding with a new behind the scenes look at the development of the game.

The video featured below offers us a window into the ongoing evolution of the LEGO Star Wars games’ formula and highlights how the series has changed and become more ambitious with the latest release.

Behind the Scenes of LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga

In the video we are taken through a short tour of TT Games, chatting with the team about the ways in which they’ve retold the epic Star Wars saga through the signature LEGO lens. Alongside the newly implemented third-person camera perspective, LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga has refined action-focused combat and the return of beloved Mumble Mode. The devs also highlight a new feature, Pew Pew Mode, which of course replaces all weapon sound effects with mouth noises – just like Laura Dern used to do.

The upcoming release comes amid claims that the studio has experienced extensive crunch issues while finishing the game. According to a report from Polygon, internal management issues have led to prolonged bouts of intense development periods and while we’re hyped for the game, it bears remembering the real people behind the work.

LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga releases on April 5th, 2022 for Xbox Series S|X, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch and PC.
