Ride 4 coming to consoles and PC in October

Racing specialist Milestone has announced the latest game in the Ride series, scheduled for release on October 8th, for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. In Ride 4, each bike has been scanned from real models, in order to replicate them on screen, including the instrument panels.

This means that for those who prefer to race in cockpit view, you’ll see all of the metrics, such as speed, RPM, temperature and fuel gauge, match the bike’s performance in real-time.

The game also features an endurance mode, featuring dynamic lighting and weather conditions, with the possibility of torrential rain clearing or breaking out mid-race. Planning your tyre and fuel management adds more strategic elements to long distance races.

Going the Extra Mile

As a fully-fledged racing simulation, Ride 4 will bring a career mode with championships and a brand-new endurance mode. Tyre wear is also a new gameplay element for the franchise.

The career mode takes players through local competition all the way up to international championships. Players can choose what order they wish to progress through the career, unlocking special events and challenges along the way.

The career will offer pathways in the American, European or Asian leagues, with your results opening up additional events to conquer. You can also unlock rewards for remaining loyal to a manufacturer, through the game’s Affinity system. If you are riding a Honda at the lower levels, your rider will be familiar with their more powerful variants.

Milestone has also partnered with Yamaha and Bridgestone for the new game, which will feature over 175 different bikes from 22 manufacturers, with 30 tracks based around the world to race on.

Milestone CEO Luisa Bixio said “when we launched the Ride franchise our main goal was to create a unique IP for all two-wheel lovers.

“Today – five years later – the astonishing realism of its visuals, the depth of its gameplay and the great partners we’re working with, confirm we’ve worked in the right direction to create the ultimate two-wheel racing experience.”

More than 1.5 million players have logged into the Ride franchise since its debut in 2015.

Milestone’s last game was the recently-released MotoGP 20, which we reviewed here.
