Aussie devs 5 Lives Studio is bringing Windbound to consoles and PC

Five video game development veterans banded together following the collapse of the Aussie games industry. Together, they created Five Lives Studio and set about creating new and exciting video games. Having worked on Syndicate, Grand Theft Auto, Darksiders, Star Wars and more, Five Lives Studio released Satellite Reign after 15,000 backers joined the Kickstarter campaign.

Now, Five Lives Studio has announced Windbound. Coming to PC, PS4, Switch and Xbox One, it’s a 3rd-person roguelike featuring survival, hunting, exploration and crafting.

Playing as Kara, players will need to learn how to survive after being shipwrecked.

Windbound

Five Lives Studio has revealed the following as the setting and story of Windbound;

The forbidden islands are calling, unlock their secrets.

Shipwrecked alone on an uncharted island, explore, adapt and navigate the land and perilous seas to stay alive.

As Kara, you are a warrior, caught at sea in a fierce storm, adrift from your tribe. Thrown from your boat, at the mercy of the turbulent waters, you are tossed on to the shores of the Forbidden Islands, a mysterious paradise.

With no boat, no food or tools, just the will and skill to survive, uncover this beautiful island’s rich resources. Craft tools and weapons to hunt and defend yourself against nature itself with its wild and fantastical creatures.

Whilst exploring further islands and the scattered ruins across their lands, secrets of the past and glimpses of the future are revealed. Unravel the mystery behind them all and you may find more than just your way home.

Windbound features a procedurally generated world, “dynamic wildlife” and “modular boat crafting.” Set in the Forbidden Islands, players will need to explore the islands and find resources for crafting and keep moving when resources run low.

Building and maintaining your boat is the most important part of Windbound and your boat is your companion. Players will sail through dangerous waters, high winds, enormous waves and even monstrous sea creatures.

On August 28, 2020, Windbound will launch on PC, PS4, Switch and Xbox One.
