NBA 2K20 Global Championship with $100,000 prize money announced by 2K

A global NBA 2K20 competition has been announced by publisher 2K today. A partnership between the NBA, National Basketball Players Association, 2K and ESL, the NBA 2K20 Global Championship is a brand-new esports tournament. It will feature head-to-head competitions and will include both online and offline events that will run from October 2019 through to February 2020.

A final event will be held in the United States where the first-ever NBA 2K20 Global Champion will emerge. All players are welcome to enter and can do so at the official website.

Asia Pacific qualifiers will be held for both Asia and the ANZ regions. All qualifiers will be played on PS4. To register, players will need an ESL ID and play in four weekly qualifiers to improve their record.

The ANZ PS4 qualifiers will be held on the following dates;

To join the qualifiers simply “access the match event page” located on the MyEvents tab. Select Join now and play. If you finish in the top 2 you will move onto the Online Playoff Qualifier.

The winners of the Online Playoffs will move onto the Regional Finals which will be held at ESL Studios in Los Angeles, Paris and Sydney. The winners of each Regional Final will win $15,000.

Finally, the Global Finals will be held on February 22, 2020 at ESL Studio in Los Angeles. Eight finalists will play with one winner being crowned the Global Champion. The winner will receive $100,000 in prizes.
