ESL and TEG Live have announced the return of the Melbourne Esports Open in 2019. Taking place at Melbourne and Olympic Parks, the Melbourne Esports Open 2019 will be happening on the weekend of August 31 through September 1, 2019.
The inaugural MEO was held in 2018 and saw 12,000 fans attend. In 2019, the MEO will be a bigger, better affair and will take up space across Rod Laver Arena, Margaret Court Arena and Melbourne Arena.
Building on the success of the 2018 event, the Melbourne Esports Open 2019 will see the return of League of Legends Oceanic Pro League Finals and the Overwatch Contenders Australian Finals. In addition, the MEO will host Fortnite, Pokémon and Rainbow Six Siege.

In addition to all the tournament action at the event, the JB Hi-Fi Game on Zone will be returning. Here, attendees are able to get their hands on all the latest games and catch up on the world of esports.
After the 2018 event, we wrote;
Staging the Melbourne Esports Open at Melbourne & Olympic Parks is hugely significant as it’s, arguably, the biggest and most iconic sports precinct in the country. Moving out of the basement and into studios was a massive step forwards. This is the next big step.
Other countries have been staging huge esports events for years, but Australia is finally catching up. Now, along with coffee, laneways and AFL, Melbourne can put its stamp on esports as just another thing the city is famous for.
For the organisers, the players and the fans, the Melbourne Esports Open truly is a dream come true.
In 2019, it looks like we get to live that dream, all over again.
The Melbourne Esports Open 2019 will be held on August 31 through September 1, 2019.
