Take-Two CEO – No Chance Red Dead Redemption 2 will be delayed

Speaking with CNBC’s Mad Money, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick said that Red Dead Redemption 2 won’t be delayed again. According to Zelnick, the current release date of October 26, 2018 is set in stone as far as he and Rockstar are concerned.

Zelnick said of Red Dead Redemption 2’s release date that “hand on heart” it was October 26. He went a step further adding, “when I said hand on heart, it’s over 1000 people at Rockstar Games with their hands on their hearts.”

Red Dead Redemption 2 was originally set for release in the second half of 2017 it was delayed into Q1 2018 and then again to the current release date of October 26, 2018.

Red Dead Redemption 2

The decision to delay Red Dead Redemption 2 in the first place, was a mutual one between both Take-Two and Rockstar, Zelnick said.

He explained that the two brothers behind Rockstar, Dan and Sam Houser, are artists and that it’s hard to give artists a strict deadline because art takes time. “The last thing you want to do is tell an artist when it’s due,” he said.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is the long-awaited sequel to Red Dead Redemption which was released in 2010.

It will be available for PS4 and Xbox One on October 26, 2018.
