Nintendo is hosting a Smash Bros tournament and the Splatoon 2 Championships at E3 2018

Nintendo has announced today that it is hosting Smash Bros and Splatoon 2 E3 tournaments this year. The Super Smash Bros Invitational 2018 will be played on the newly announced Switch version of the game.

Splatoon 2’s World Championship will see the winning teams from tournaments from across the world competing for victory.

Both the Smash Bros and Splatoon 2 E3 tournaments will be part of Nintendo’s events running between June 12 and 14 for E3.

Details on the Smash Bros Invitational 2018 are scarce right now, with Nintendo announcing; 

The event will showcase players from around the globe in the Super Smash Bros. Invitational 2018 tournament 

How players are chosen and who will be competing remains unknown. We’ll keep you updated.

As for the Splatoon 2, the World Championship will feature the best teams from around the world. Qualifiers for the Australian leg of the Championship will be held online on March 31 and April 7. 

Splatoon 2 Championships

The top two teams from the online qualifiers will be flown to Melbourne on April 21 to compete in the grand final at Supernova Melbourne. The winning team will become Australian Champions.

The Splatoon 2 World Championships will include the winners of the Splatoon 2 Inkling Open 2018 online qualifiers in the US/Canada hosted by Battlefy, and the Splatoon European Championship at Polymanga in Switzerland.

Japanese players will need to keep an eye out for more details. 


The Smash Bros and Splatoon 2 E3 tournaments are part of Nintendo’s new approach to esports and will showcase the best players in the world.
