GWENT story campaign and esports series announced

CD Projekt Red has announced that a story campaign and an esports series are coming to GWENT. Currently in open beta, GWENT will see its first story content later this year.

Dubbed Thronebreaker, the campaign is described by CD Projekt Red as follows.

Return to the world of The Witcher in GWENT: Thronebreaker — a single player story campaign which spins a truly regal tale of Meve, a war-veteran queen of two Northern Realms. Facing an imminent invasion, she is forced to once again enter the warpath, and sets out on a dark journey of destruction and revenge.

GWENT Masters

The GWENT Masters is the official esports series for GWENT and will see players from all over the world competing to become World Champion.

The Masters series consists of three tournaments; GWENT Open, GWENT Challenger and the finale, GWENT World Masters. The open stage sees the season’s top players vying for a spot in the Challenger stage and includes a $25,000 prize pool.

Challenger consists of four tournaments and offers a $100,000 prize pool and the chance to compete in the World Masters. Finally, the World Masters offers a $250,000 prize pool and will crown the GWENT World Champion.

The first Open stage is being held at Gamescom. You can tune in at 3am AEST August 26 and 27 on Twitch. For more information on the series and schedule, head to the official website.

GWENT is available free on PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
