The Redfall launch trailer is here and it’s looking fan(g)tastic

I’m a sucker for a cover song and within the opening three seconds of the Redfall launch trailer, I was excited to hear a new, spooky version of Soundgarden’s monstrously epic track Black Hole Sun.

I’ve never quite been sure what a Black Hole Sun is, but the nebulous idea of it certainly seems to fit with the vampire theme and the slightly ethereal arrangement of this version makes it and the trailer an absolute banger.

The trailer gives us another look at gameplay and provides some lore and content for the plight of the town of Redfall and the people trapped within.

Redfall

As previously covered, Redfall is “an open-world, co-op FPS from Arkane Austin, the award-winning team behind Prey and Dishonored. Slay alone or squad up with up to 4 player co-op and face off against the vampires holding the island hostage. Redfall brings the studio’s signature gameplay to this story-driven action shooter.”

Players choose one of four trapped survivors to take the fight back to the vampires;

  • Cryptozoologist inventor Devinder Crousley
  • Telekinetic student Layla Ellison
  • Combat engineer Remi de la Rosa
  • Supernatural former US military special forces sniper veteran plus former PMC operator of Bellwether Security Jacob Boyer

Playable in both single-player and co-op, Redfall will be available for Xbox Game Pass on day one. Redfall launches on 2 May 2023 and pre-load is available now.
