Borderlands 3’s next DLC is Bounty of Blood

We spoke to Gearbox before the release of Guns, Love & Tentacles and were given some clues about the DLC following that. We were told the next DLC would be all about “Outlaws and Dinosaurs” and today, Gearbox proved it was telling the truth. Launching on June 25, Bounty of Blood is Borderlands 3’s third DLC.

Like Borderlands 3’s previous DLC, Bounty of Blood: A Fistful of Redemption takes players to an all-new location. However, in this DLC, players will be intercting and working with brand-new characters. Additionally, a narrator will be commentating as you play…

Set on the desert planet Gehenna, you and your crew set out to claim the bounty on The Devil Riders. This gang uses beasts as mounts and have been terrorising the town of Vestige. By teaming up with the locals, you can dole out some frontier justice.

New characters, Rose and Juno, were revealed in the announcement. Rose is “a warrior who’s adept with pistol and katana alike” and Juno is “a rough-and-tumble brawler with a checkered past.” Gearbox is promising that your actions and decisions in this DLC will have a direct impact on Vestige and your missions and Crew Challenges will have an affect on the story.

Other new additions coming in Bounty of Blood include the Jetbeast Hoverbike. Matt Cox, Creative Director for Bounty of Blood said: “Every Western needs its horse, for the Vault Hunter, it’s the Jetbeast, which is half jetbike, and half creature.” Players will be customise the Jetbeast with some various weapons and it will be the only usable vehicle while on Gehenna.

Finally, two new special items — Traitorweed and Breezebloom — wil have an impact on gameplay. Traitorweed temporarily turns enemies into allies while Breezebloom lifts the Vault Hunter to higher heights.

Also announced today was the new end game activity; Takedown at the Guardian Breach.

Launching free on June 4, Takedown at Guardian Breach is yet another high level activity that sees players heading to Minos Prime to investigate a Guardian signal.

Upon arrival, you’ll be besieged by a sect of rogue Guardians who have split off from their brethren and have irrevocably transformed Minos Prime.

New enemies, low-gravity platforming sections, environmental puzzles, a mini-boss and endboss are just some of what awaits players in this new activity. If you survivie the encounter you’ll earn new item drops, including themed weapons, gear, and collectible cosmetics.

Bounty of Blood launches for Borderlands 3 on June 25. Takedown at the Guardian Breach launches on June 4.
