Commander mode brings RTS to World of Tanks Mercenaries

Wargaming has announced the introduction of a real-time strategy mode for World of Tanks Mercenaries. Coming for a limited time at the end of November, World of Tanks Mercenaries Commander Mode brings an entirely new way to play.

Players will take a birds-eye view of the battlefield in Commander Mode as they control nine separate tanks.

Wargaming West has been developing Commander Mode with direct input from the community in order to make the new mode as good as possible.

When players assume the role of leader in World of Tanks Mercenaries Commander Mode, they’ll be able to give individual commands to each of their nine tanks. The Commander will also be able to group their tanks up and send them into battle as a terrifying unit.

It’s not all about giving orders in Commander mode either. Wargaming has advised that players will be able to play as a tanker and work with other players in an attempt to defeat the Commander.

Those taking part in Commander Mode will be able to from November 30 through December 9. The new RTS mode sees tanks given infinite ammo to streamline events and make World of Tanks Mercenaries more action-packed than ever.

In other World of Tanks news, three special new tanks have been added to the game for a limited time. From the mind of acclaimed artist Brett Parson (Tank Girl) and created in partnership with ARTitiude, these tanks, dubbed The Outcasts are pretty wild.

The Outcasts are available now until December 11. The Outcasts are;

  • Banana Buster – a deliberate brawler with awesome armour. It’s captained by 40 Watt Club, a French Resistance fighter who delights in hunting down members of German high command!
  • Beach Party – the resilient hybrid of three nations’ engineering prowess, it’s fronted with a magnificently powerful weapon. Battalion 23, an American soldier who went mad surviving and fighting his way through the forests of Japan after World War II, is at its helm.
  • T.A.N.K. – this absolute unit has excellent speed, agility, and close-range combat prowess. The Buck is its master, a cruel and vindictive war criminal who operates a nefarious network of Mercenaries who sweep Europe like a plague of locusts.
