[UPDATE] – This article erroneously stated that cross-platform play and achievement unlocking was available now. The article has been updated to reflect that cross-platform play between Xbox and Switch is not yet available.
How insane is this?! With cross-platform play between the Switch and other versions of Minecraft (not you PS4) going live sometime this year, it’s now been discovered that players will be able to unlock Xbox achievements by playing the Switch version.
First picked up by True Achievements, the 4J developed Minecraft on Switch will include 79 achievements which total 1,750 Gamerscore.

It just goes to show how Nintendo and Microsoft are working together to make a cross-platform ecosystem for gamers to enjoy.
With Xbox Achievements unlocking via Nintendo Switch, players have even more incentive to pick up the Switch version and play on the go.
Minecraft on Switch is available digitally right now and a physical release is coming in 2018. However, the version with cross-platform support is not yet available.
It is due in 2018.
