Is Bethesda gearing up to announce The Elder Scrolls 6 at E3 2018? According to inside sources, that’s what may be happening.
The Elder Scrolls 6 would be a follow up to the insanely popular and long-lived Skyrim. Given the success of Skyrim, it makes sense that Bethesda would wait so long to perfect the next entry in the franchise.
The Elder Scrolls franchise hasn’t been completely stagnant though as Bethesda has released The Elder Scrolls Online and multiple expansions.
So, what about The Elder Scrolls 6? Let’s take a look.
The Elder Scrolls 6 at E3 2018
Rumours of The Elder Scrolls 6 announcement at E3 stem from an earlier report we published last week. The report claims that a number of games will have exclusive marketing with Microsoft.
Among these games is;
- Borderlands 3
- Cyberpunk 2077
- Splinter Cell
- Battlefield V
Also on the list is Shadow of the Tomb Raider, The Division 2 and The Elder Scrolls 6. Madden NFL 19 and Anthem are two titles that are obvious partnerships with Microsoft.
Anthem was announced at Microsoft’s press conference at E3 2017 while Madden has had a long relationship with Microsoft. Rise of the Tomb Raider was a timed Xbox exclusive and as such was announced at a Microsoft press conference.
Thankfully, Shadow of the Tomb Raider isn’t a timed exclusive, but considering the previous title, it’s likely that it will have Microsoft marketing.
Which brings us to The Elder Scrolls 6.
The future of The Elder Scrolls
The sources who provided the information regarding the Microsoft exclusive marketing of these titles previously provided details on the ReCore Definitive Edition on Xbox One X.
So the sources have a track record of providing accurate information.
If the Microsoft exclusive marketing report is accurate, then there the likelihood of The Elder Scrolls 6 being announced at E3 2018 is much higher.
Given that Microsoft and Bethesda’s press conferences are on the same day, we should expect a teaser at Microsoft’s followed by a full reveal at Bethesda’s.
It’s been seven years since the release of Skyrim and 12-years since Oblivion. In that time Bethesda has released Fallout 4, Skryim VR and Skyrim on Switch.
With such a long time between titles and only one new, full release, it’s highly probably that Bethesda has been working on a second project. That project is most likely The Elder Scrolls 6.
Additionally, the only game in development at Bethesda that’s known is Quake Champions so there is bound to be plenty of announcements, surprises and information coming out at E3 2018.
The Elder Scrolls is Bethesda’s biggest property and it’s definitely time for the sequel to be announced. If it is at E3 2018, you can expect Bethesda to come out with guns blazing.
The Elder Scrolls 6 would be the sixth entry in the franchise and would likely take us to an all-new region of Tamriel. Fingers crossed this rumour is true.
Update – an earlier version of this article erroneously referred to a continent in Tamriel rather than a region.
