Ninja Theory announces Hellblade sells 500,000 in three months

Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice developer Ninja Theory revealed that the game had outsold their expectations. Posting on Twitter, Ninja Theory announced that Hellblade had sold 500,000 copies in three months. That figure means that the title has already generated a profit ahead of schedule and expectations.

In its final development diary, Ninja Theory staff discuss the development, sales and reception to Hellblade. Initially concerned about the reception it would receive and the portrayal of the mental illness elements, Ninja Theory was ecstatic when Hellblade was embraced by gamers, press and other developers alike.

Hellblade was made for a budget of $12 million over three years with a team of 20. Ninja Theory is keen to share its experience to help other developers create games in a space between indy and AAA.

Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice is available now for PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
