Dishonored: Death of the Outsider – How to Unlock the Bank Vaults

Dishonored’s latest instalment — Death of the Outsider — is available for PC, PS4 and Xbox One. Like Dishonored and Dishonored II, Death of the Outsider is a darkly humorous journey through a strange world.

Through the five chapters of Death of the Outsider, there are multiple paths to take, secrets to find and of course, people to kill; or knockout if you prefer. In this series of guides, we’ll show you how to unlock Trophies/Achievements, find secret areas and more.


 How to unlock all of the Bank Vaults

During Chapter 3, the main mission is to infiltrate the Bank Vault and steal the special knife the Eyeless has acquired. The safe that holds the knife is opened by two keys, but there are five others safes in the vault.

Each of these safes is opened with a code, but you won’t find the codes just lying around the level. There are some references hinting at the code scattered throughout the level, but it’s never explicitly revealed.

A workshop on the upper levels of the bank gives you the best clue for the code as it shows a Golden Spiral and lists part of the Fibonacci Sequence. The Fibonacci Sequence is a sequence of numbers known as Fibonacci numbers “characterized by the fact that every number after the first two is the sum of the two preceding ones.”

Use the numbers on the safes

 

The Fibonacci Sequence is as follows; 0. 1. 1. 2. 3. 5. 8. 13. 21, 34, 55, 89, 144 and so on. There are five safes requiring a combination of three numbers each. However, the safe that requires the two keys is in position number four and this is where it gets a little tricky.

Because the fourth safe doesn’t need a combination, we need to apply the numbers to the fifth and sixth safes as though it does anyway. The combinations to the safes are;

1st – 011

2nd – 235

3rd – 813

5th – 455

6th – 891

Once you’ve input the correct code into a safe you should hear a dull clunk. When you input all five codes in, the five safes will swing open and reward you with your stolen goods.
