Hardcore Action-RPG Immortal: Unchained announced for PS4, Xbox One

Dark Souls is the gift that keeps on giving. Not only are the games in that series fantastic in their own right, but they’ve spawned an entire genre of their own. We’ve already seen the excellent sci-fi take The Surgeand now another game is attempting to blend sci-fi and hard action-RPG.

Immortal: Unchained comes to us from Toadman Interactive and publisher Sold Out. Billed as a dark sci-fi adventure, starring an amnesiac convict set free, Immortal: Unchained is setting itself apart from other games in the genre through storytelling and ranged combat.

Speaking at Gamescom, Marketing Director for Sold Out, Sarah Hoeksma was confident that Immortal: Unchained could stand apart from those games it was inspired by.

[Immortal: Unchained] is not for the faint-hearted and is a seriously challenging game. The story and range combat really sets us apart from other games out there and we’re really excited to finally be showing Toadman’s first IP to everyone at Gamescom.

Immortal: Unchained features a narrative written by the talent behind Battlefield 1 and The Witcher and includes a diverse arsenal of weaponry for players to discover and master. Both ranged and melee weapons are integral to your survival as Immortal blends seamless tactical shooting with focused melee combat.

Details on the story, universe, lore and gameplay are still scarce, but what we’ve seen so far looks very promising. Here’s hoping we get some more information shortly.

Immortal: Unchained will be available in 2018.
