Overwatch World Cup’s Team Australia announced, tickets on sale now

Blizzard has announced the Australian team who’ll take on the best teams from around the world in the Sydney Group Qualifier of the Overwatch World Cup.

A fan vote saw Blank Esports chosen, which is unsurprising as it is currently the highest ranked Australian team. The team is in Taiwan, competing in the Overwatch Pacific Championship and will face Sweden, Italy and Portugal in Group C of the World Cup in Sydney.

Blank Esports is being coached by SereNity, real name Jason Wang, and includes team members Ajay ‘Aetar’ Umasankar (DPS), Jason ‘ieatuup’ Ho (DPS/Flex), Jordan ‘Gunba’ Graham (Support), Marcus ‘Kiki’ Jacob (Tank), Ashley ‘Trill’ Powell (Tank/Flex) and  Andrew ‘rqt’ Haws (Support).

In addition to the team announcement, it’s been revealed that international commentators Doa and MonteCristo — among others — will be on hand to call the games and give their expert takes on the action.

Tickets for the events are now on sale through Ticketek, priced at $60AUD. Each ticket grants access to all three days of the event and access to the Blizzard and Overwatch pop-up store. The store will feature merchandise not previously available in Australia.

If you’re unable to attend in person, you’ll be able to tune into the livestream.
