The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Guide – How to Get the Master Sword

In The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, there are a huge number of things to do and see and items to find. When it comes to weapons, Link relies on scavenging swords and shields from enemies, chests and even off the ground.

One of the trickiest weapons to find in the game is actually a main character of sorts. Most of you will be familiar with the Master Sword. This guide will help you locate and obtain it. Beware there are spoilers involved.

Be aware that to take the Master Sword, you require at least 13 hearts so you’ll need to have completed quite a few shrines beforehand.

Make Your Way to the Korok Forst

To locate the legendary sword, you must first locate the Korok forest. This forest is north of Hyrule castle and through the Lost Woods.

The best way to get there is to locate the tower north east of the castle named Woodland Tower. Once you have found the tower find the path just north of it. Follow that path until the game becomes dark; regardless of the whether it’s day or night.

You should see some ruins and a lit torch as shown below.

Get Through the Lost Woods

The Lost Woods is rather creepy and misleading, though once you know its tricks it becomes fairly easy to navigate. You should reach the first torch and then look to your right to see more torches.

Head towards those torches. As you follow the torches, pay attention to the embers coming from them. The wind will change and blow the embers in the direction of the next torch and you can use this to locate the next path if you get lost. Simply walk in the direction the embers blow.

Eventually you will come across two torches side by side. This is where things gets a little trickier.

From here you need to keep a sharp eye. The only way to navigate from this point is to keep an eye on the wind. There are a couple of visual queues as you proceed further away from the torches.

Follow the Sparkling Lights

Keep and eye on the grass and sparkling lights. If they start moving in a certain direction move with them. If all remains stagnant then you are still heading in the correct direction. Keep moving until you see a narrow crevasse.

If you check you map you should be located as shown and be at the mouth of the crevasse. Follow it until it stops being creepy and dank. You should eventually pass through a hollowed tree. You should also notice some Koroks floating around.

Take the Master Sword

You’ve just made it through the Lost Woods and to Korok forest. Sitting smack bang in front of you should be the fabled sword itself.

As previously mentioned you will need a certain amount of hearts to be able to draw the sword from stone. The magic number is 13 hearts.

The good news is there is a shrine located to the right of the Master Sword. This means if you don’t have the hearts required you can use it to come back when you do.
